The award winning jazz pianist Leon Greening has been the sideman of choice for over a decade with the 'who's who' of the UK Jazz Scene. Known as 'everybody's favorite pianist' he's done just about everything in the music world except releasing his own album and leading a touring band under his own name. However, in Jan. 2009, on a visit to New York, Leon recorded nine exciting compositions at the legendary Systems Two studios, paying homage to some of his all time Jazz piano favorites from both the US and UK, including Wynton Kelly, Victor Feldman, Bobby Timmons, and even a reworking of a classic Dudley Moore composition.
Appearing on the album was his exciting working trio of Michael Janisch and Steve Brown, and special guests in Alex Garnett and one of the most renown alto saxophonists of the last 30 years, Vincent Herring. In May and June of 2012, Leon takes his trio on the road for the first time, with special guest star Herring performing on alto sax. This will prove to be one of the most anticipated debut album tours in recent times in the UK, and solidify Greening as one of the premier pianists of his generation.
