Following a period off the UK radar, 2014 sees guitarist Ron E Carter re-emerge with the release of a vibrant and exciting solo album predominantly comprising rock and blues with infusions of jazz, funk and soul and bursting with energy and creativity.
This is Ron’s third album, following on from his critically acclaimed albums ‘Ad Idem’ and ‘Play Hendrix’, with Ron playing all the instruments. Ron’s guitar playing can be both sensitive and jazzy capturing a ferocious speed and attack, hence one description of Ron as "The dynamics of Hendrix and McLaughlin combined".
Ron, alongside many other guitarists, has always admired the legendary Jimi Hendrix and would often include a few Hendrix numbers in his repertoire. However, over the years Ron’s playing has been singled out to the extent that he has been favourably compared to the great man, not through any attempt at mimicry, but simply by the manner in which he plays - hence the release of 'Play Hendrix'. There is a strong rock-side to Ron’s playing and he always intended to release a rock album comprising original material.
